CAPTAIN OF THE CASTLE ROCQ
CASTLE AND LORD OF THE ROCQ UNDER FELUY
History
According to oral tradition, Wautier Bousies, Proud said in Bras, bastard Bousies Eustace, lord of Feluy The Rocq received in his father's prerogative as a reward for his exploits in the wars of Britain and Frisia. We know he has little or no place inhabited by cons, a small garrison was needed to defend the border.
Archives Feluy we learn that The Rocq had several "castelain" (Squires) which, And Jehan Jehan Cannebustin Giliar. The first is Nivelles. It should be noted that for over forty years, the documents cite Canebustin Jehan. Valuable clues suggest that he had at least two of the name to succeed.
Tuesday of Pentecost, June 5, 1691, the French army encamped in Braine-le-Comte Pierre-Francois de Boulogne, bailiff Feluy, Jean-René de Bestenraedt, lord of the Rocq, Etienne Denis, of mayeur feluy and Nicolas Gaudré, went there for a backup for common Feluy, but having met a troop of cavalry near the Bois de Haurut, they were arrested and only obtained their freedom by paying ten patacones. The Lord of the Rocq mayeur and succeeded only with the marshal, Duke of Luxembourg, which gave them two backups, one for Feluy, one for the castle Rocq.
This castle, where many peasants Feluy Arquennes and fled, was devastated during the absence of the lord, and farmers lost cattle and other belongings that they had taken
June 11, 1691, a large number of troops under the command of Major-General D'Artagnan went to Nivelles to demolish the fortifications of the city: they placed guards in the woods of Escaille and Feluy and a post at the Castle Rocq.
On 18-1-1738, the lord Gaspard Blavier is compelling, with three guards, his farmer's Rocq (Pierre-Ignace Dufaux) to continue the payment of 2249 pounds for rendages accrued from 1736 and 1737.
"This farmer by unprecedented assault, said he was notified, along with a troop of 25 to 26 armed men on 22 and 28 of this month of abusing his guards, servants, take off effects also those that were unique to remonstrating, broken doors, windows and other damage with losses amounting to more than 4,000 florins, and retiring hand packed on the country of Liege to prevent the landlord's action. "
The Cossacks and the Prussians encamped at the castle of Rocq in 1814.
A fire took place in early 1908

CASTLE
Surrounded by a moat and accessible to the east by a paved passage leading to a tower porch, set in stone under a slate roof enclosing three sides of a courtyard
STROOBANTS C History Common Feluy, Brussels 1858, p.224. The keep
The shell of the tower dates from the late fourteenth century tower, square three levels of decreasing height, each limited to a bevel and stiff chains angle, surmounted by a cantilevered top floor vintage 1660 by anchors.
A stone protruding from the masonry, side yard, bears the date 1772 with the initials of the Anselme Francois Blavier marking a profound restoration. The portal
third point is in the old rebate of the drawbridge.
Above two small Gothic niches surround a window lintel saddleback, they were sheltering arms, almost entirely destroyed, we notice the shape of a helmet and feathers of the crest of Bousies Under the porch of a double-arched barrel vault, the second household a stunner, a door handle arch basket , redone.
The floors are lit by small bays with unique day. It was the first floor of the dungeon built of wood and fitted with locks.
buildings housing
The three wings of the building belong to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, they have mostly been reworked into neo-medieval taste in the late nineteenth century. We see here a view of the main building of the Rocq before changes made to that of Emile Lalieux.
Facing the dungeon's west wing is occupied by the central main building of the first half of the eighteenth century, its facade is brick on stone base. Built on two levels and aligning to cross three windows soffit, framed by stone, the door is probably the central baroque Récollets Nivelles, it is dated 1713. The coat of arms of Bestenraedt which appeared above the door had been chipped, probably French rule, like those of the entrance porch.
The roof is included in the stepped gables of the nineteenth century.
his left, was created an extension of the house of stone, the facade has four bays stepfamily, one of which is dated 1725.
The rear facade overlooking the moat has five arches and another tower. All this together has been rebuilt after a fire in 1908 by Emile Lalieux of Rocq. The stepped gable, carrying his arms combined with those of his wife Maria Simonis, is flanked by a square tower.
the right, extension of residential two levels of windows, to the corner and the north wing where the ground floor has windows in the second half of the eighteenth century and bricked during the development of the wing in the barn. This transformation has given way to a cart at an angle with the gate of the keep and opposite two pedestrian gates to handle arch basket. This wing has skylights, neo-medieval.
The east wing is occupied by the old outbuildings dating from the fourteenth century, punctuated by three doors in a basket handle, each between two small windows single day of the seventeenth century.
In extending the right beyond a neo-medieval tower, a building of similar height, between the stepped gables of the early twentieth century brick facade has a center providing at a small gallery opened by two arches semicircular drive column reuse.
The building called "customs"
Outside the castle, north-east, remains the small building known as the "bond" dated 1707.
This building stands on a tongue of land that was subject to litigation between the lordship of La Rocq Feluy and that which concerned the extent of the manor. The field was situated between the river and the ditch.
Oral tradition says that fraudsters could hide away with the goods in this house, because the place believed to be outside the scope or Feluy in Hainaut, nor Arquennes in Brabant.
