East of Cervon on the side of a hill stands the castle Cuzy or Cusy Cufy or, in the hamlet of the same name, finage of Cervon in the department of Nièvre, in the Morvan, the heart of Burgundy.
History.
This building was built in the seventeenth century it was the site of a manor, with its dependencies, in fairness, County moving Chateau-Chinon because of the barony of Lormes.
Jean de La Forest and his brother John Coignard, took a fief in 1450. Their son, William Noble and Claude, were the lords undivided in 1500. Paul La Forest, gave recognition to the count of Chateau-Chinon, François d'Orléans-Longueville in 1540. He would have embraced some time after the Lutheran ideas. His granddaughter Anne La Forest, brought the lordship of Cuzy Marcilly and, in the parish of Cervon, Pierre Leroy, Knight, Baron of Alard. Anne widow, then married Louis Jaucourt, Sire de Dourdey Domecy and, in the chapel in the presence of brothers Cuzy Husband's Francis Louis Francis and Elijah Jaucourt. From her first marriage she had a son, Nicolas-François Leroy (Roy) who took a fief in 1698, the Prince de Carignan, who recognized the right to institute, judge, clerk, sergeant and storage timber. He married Marguerite Le Gathelier (Gaftelier) who bore him a son and a daughter, Gabriel, died in 1699 and was buried in the chapel of the castle. Anne's daughter, was married to Francois Marie de La Ferte Meun (Solières), lord, captain of a company in the Royal Cavalry Regiment, in place of the Sieur de La Ferte, his uncle. The marriage was celebrated July 2, 1701, in the chapel of Castle Cuzy.
François-Alexandre de la Chenaye Aubert, says he, in his book of genealogy to serve as supplements to the Dictionary of Nobility: "He married her after the death of his father and mother, in presence of his brothers, by contract pafled Cufy at Castle, 7 July 1701, Damosel Anne Le Roy, daughter of Major Meffire Nicolas-François Le Roy, Lord of Lavault La Fay, Cufy, & c & Fire Lady Marguerite Gaftelier , residing at Castle Cufy, paroiffe of Cervon; this is contat figned Buffy, Notary Royal to Lonne He continued by indicating the progeny two children: Jacques-Louis and Jean-Francois de Meun, called Sieur de La Ferte, minor in 1732;
This land was then in undivided ownership of The Corcoran Edme, esquire, lord of Bailly , whose son Nicolas is said Cuzy lord in 1717. Claude La Corcoran, Knight of St. Louis, Captain of the Regiment of the Saar, M. Bailly and Cuzy, testa January 24, 1740, and was buried in the chapel of the castle. He bequeathed 200 pounds to the poor and willed that he should be made an obit by the canons of Cervon and another by the Capuchins Corbigny. François Leroy La Corcoran, his nephew, a lieutenant of the regiment of La Marche was his legatee universel.Jacques-Louis de la Ferte Meun, Comte de la Roche-Millay, Lord of Solières, was the owner of the premises in 1760. His son, Jacques-Louis II, called the Vicomte de Solières, bequeathed to the family Guiette, which it passed by marriage to Mr. Bidault who had in 1865.
