The castle Blaquière is a building whose structural work probably dates from the fourteenth century. He underwent various changes until the seventeenth century.
This monument identified by the Inventory of Cultural Heritage is located in Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, in the department of Herault.
Description.
According to the instructions of the General Inventory and statements, made in 2002, Heritage Resources Centre, the current castle Blaquière in its structural work, does not appear prior to the fourteenth century .
This monument occupies the northeast corner of the old town fortification, of which there are still many ruins in the northern part of the village. It is bordered by the River Margaret.
The construction is made of sandstone rubble and stone, on a hill with four bays. At its northeastern corner, is flanked by a corner tower with conical roof with loft facing south. A roof with long tails (conical tower) uses hollow tile and slabs of slate.
The front door of the building dates from the seventeenth century and has recently returned a shield (11 March 2002) from a sculpture preserved in the cloister of the Cathedral of St. Fulcran Lodève deemed to come from St. -Jean-de-la-Blaquiere. A secondary door in the street of the Four Corners, has dug for amounts receive two cylindrical columns.
Until the nineteenth century, the north façade, open onto gardens, was completely cleared. It is now partly hidden by modern buildings.
